(Proverbs 28:27 -NIV) - He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.

Blessed is he who has regard for the poor; the Lord delivers him in times of trouble. The Lord will protect him and preserve his life; He will bless him in the land.... (Psalms 41:1-2)

"To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. "- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Looking From a Garbage Drum...

My name is Francis, 7 years old and I'm not in school; I don't know how to read and write. They say I look like a five-year old child maybe because most of the time we don't have food and we eat once a day only. Three times a week I go with my buddy scavengers digging into garbage drums and piles of garbage looking for plastics, metals, papers, etc which we can sell to junkshops around the area and I get P7. My jute sack is my loot bag and companion which is even taller than I am. I want to become an engineer someday. My future hangs like a thin thread...but I could only hope for the best with the helping hands of people who care for us....
...for a time
like this we could smile....and hope our dreams will not slip away from the grip of our faith that someday we could also make others smile. and we will fight against the odds of poverty and the specter of hopelessness to keep the faith...
help us continue with our struggle to stay in school....and that we could also make others smile....someday

THE SMILE...

I thought I was the only one barefooted...but when I looked down I saw many small feet like mine...soiled, dirty and wanting to wear rubber slippers between our soles and the ground. Amusing that I saw their lackness more than mine. I wish I were a fairy godmother to turn their feet with new slippers and shoes.... and they would never get hungry and sick anymore. For now I pray someone like you reading my thoughts would have that burden in your heart to share your blessings with them....yes, please include me....
